Having been to many weddings I’ve always noticed how the celebrant can really make the event. The right celebrant perfectly matches the couple who’s personalities we already know & love. They allow the couple space, their moment in the limelight, and maintain the ability to deliver the ceremony without distracting anyone’s attention from the happy couple.
My journey to becoming a celebrant came via work in a record store, record label, as a tour promoter, booking agent, music manager, over 25 years and all over the world ... so, a somewhat unconventional path to marrying people. The inspiration actually came from two of my music clients, and friends, who announced their engagement and then asked if I would marry them. I was honoured and said that I’d love to (perhaps not realising quite how much work it is to become a celebrant).
I found a school that offered the course, with a wonderful and experienced celebrant as my trainer and was lucky enough to study and graduate alongside nine of the finest individuals I’ve met.
What started as seeking the certification to marry my two friends grew, through learning and developing my understanding of the role. It became clear that this was something I was very good at wanted to do more of; to support people as they make important decisions and commitments and help them create important moments in their lives. Perhaps my work in supporting artists to create love songs was on the path that lead me here, after all?
My journey to taking on this important role means that I bring to it the skills and experience of a life lived with music and that imbues everything I do. Of course, I can tone the music down if you want... or I can crank it up to 11. I recognise that every ceremony as unique as the couple within it and it’s part of my job to ensure that.
I look forward to meeting you and discussing your perfect ceremony.
Oh… I also run an Artist Management company so, if you’re interested, check that out HERE.
